Buy and sell safely

Most people you’ll meet on CartPiko are neighbors selling a cart they no longer need. These habits keep it that way.

For buyers

  1. See it and drive it before you pay. No exceptions for “out of town” sellers.
  2. Never pay a deposit to hold or ship a cart, and never use gift cards, wire transfers, crypto or payment apps with strangers.
  3. Check the paperwork. Match the serial number or VIN to the title or bill of sale.
  4. Meet in a public place or bring someone with you, in daylight.
  5. Never share a verification code sent to your phone. That’s an account-takeover trick.

For sellers

  • Keep chatting on CartPiko until you’re ready to meet. Your number stays private.
  • Be wary of buyers who offer more than your price, want to pay by check and ask you to refund the difference, or want to send a “shipper”.
  • Accept cash in person or a payment your bank confirms has cleared before you hand over the keys and title.

What CartPiko does

  • Hides phone numbers, emails and links in messages and listings.
  • Flags messages that mention risky payments, deposits, shipping or codes, and shows both people a warning.
  • Limits how many chats brand-new accounts can start and how fast anyone can send messages.
  • Pauses accounts that repeatedly send risky messages, and reviews every report.
